| Welcome
to Cebu!
Welcome to St. Theresa’s College!
From the school’s opening in 1933, the Missionary
Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (ICM) felt deep
in their hearts that Cebu was ripe for harvest for God’s
mission. The warmth, openness, hospitality and religiosity
of the Cebuanos captured the hearts of the pioneering
Belgian sisters and then exclaimed; “Lord, it
is good to be here !”
After more
than seventy years of service here in Cebu, St. Theresa’s
College continues its mission of nurturing young ladies
to become what God intends them to be: Christian women
leaders who can help transform society and become shapers
of their own destiny.
Inspired
by the patron saint, Theresa of Avila, St. Theresa’s
translates its logo into programs: virtute, scientia,
artibus floreat – may virtue, science, and the
arts flourish here in the school. Goodness, truth, and
beauty are dynamically expressed in its training for
academic proficiency and on-going formation for life.
Thus a wholistic approach to the educative processes
is used to ensure the integral formation of the learners.
Likewise,
the missionary spirit of the ICM Foundress, Marie Louise
de Meester permeates the whole program of education
of the institution. This spirit is characterized by
a sincere love of God, loyalty to the Church, a great
respect for the dignity of humankind, integrity of creation,
and genuine personal concern of creation, and genuine
personal concern and involvement in the lives of the
people, especially the poor.
It is the
ardent prayer of the Institution that its graduates
become bearers of the Gospel, evangelizers of hope,
light of the families and the nation as they nurture
in themselves the culture of goodness and excellence.

Vision
of Philippine Society
We envision a society that is genuinely maka-Diyos,
maka-tao and maka-bayan, maka-kalikasan and maka-kasarian.
To attain our vision, our Christian faith demands that
we work in all spheres of life: religio-cultural, socio-economic,
political, ecological and gender sensitive.
Concretely, we envision a Philippine society which has
the following characteristics:
the people respect, preserve and develop the good,
the true and the sacred in the culture;
the economy is self-reliant and globally-
acceptable. It ensures just distribution
of wealth, resources and
opportunities;
the people enjoy national sovereignty and are empowered
by leaders imbued with high moral integrity;
men and women co-exist in harmony with each other
and with Mother Earth.
In
response, we commit ourselves to this VISION.
